Friendship Ribbon Quilt

When I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, I was lucky enough to be given a beautiful Breast cancer Friendship Ribbon Quilt. I loved it so much I bought the book. My daughter has taken such a shine to my quilt that I have now started one for her.

I cut the pieces the other week and got them pinned but as we were on holiday and the sun was shining , I did not get the chance to stitch them.

Well my darling hubby had to go home to play at a couple of weddings this weekend, so I took the opportunity to get the sewing machine out and start stitching the pieces together. The blocks are now sewn and I spent this morning squaring them off, so I can now begin stitching the blocks together and as it is such a miserably wet day I may even get the chance to make a start.

Home from the Caravan

My wonderful husband bought me a static caravan earlier this year, the purpose of this caravan was to help me recuperate after 9 months of treatment for Breast Cancer. I love going to the caravan, it is approximately 300 yrds from the beach in front of the van and I have a beautiful nature reserve behind the caravan. So no matter where I sit to sew or knit I have a spectacular view.
I have spent most weekends there since we got it and now the kids are off on holiday from school, we have been there most of the week...popping home from time to time to do some washing etc....well actually if I am truthful I pop home to get to Marys Patch...which is the wonderful shop I go to to buy my fabrics:lol:.
My friends laugh at me and say that I am slowly turning the caravan into my craft room away from home and do you know I think they are right and I love it. I sat the other night watching 5 foot waves break on the shore, listening to one of my many audio books and piecing together a quilt for my daughter...I did not bring the camera home so I cant show you the fabric, but I will when I go back on Tuesday. I need to pop to the fabric shop before I go back again and my wonderful hubby will be going with me, so he has agreed to take me to a wonderful little quilting shop in Aberlady.....oh cant wait:)

Watch Pincushion

A while ago I was blog hopping and came across a variety of things that I added to a folder called "things I want to try". Some of these things were quite complex and others were novelty fun items that would just be good fun to do. This pin cushion is one of the novelty fun things to do. I did wanted a pin cushion to use when I was working, so when I saw this great tutorial for a fabulous watch pin cushion (Lucykate crafts) I thought this is the one for me. So I decided to make it, not only for practical reasons but also to stop me sticking pins through my top and into my bra, that can be dangerous you know...hehe!!

A Tiskit, A Tasket February Block 2

I am really having fun with this project. It is however letting me see how much I need to improve my hand sewing, each block I realise a better way to have done something. However if I look at this as a learning curve, I should in theory improve each month. So if that is the case by the time I get to the 12th block it should be perfect...hehehe. No matter as I said I am having fun with this and that is what really counts.

Beginners Quilt

I recently joined a quilting class at a wonderful shop called Mary's Patch. I joined the beginners quilt group and this weekend I finished my first quilt, its only a small 9 block quilt, but I am so pleased with it. I had great fun making this and I can say with certainty that this will not be my last one:)
